What have I been up to?
It was a wet day on September 29th when I exhibited with both Sisters in Crime and Mystery Writers of America at the Brooklyn Book Fair. Surprisingly, traffic was bustling, which says a lot about Brooklynites’ love of reading. Met some great people, signed some books, and had a wonderful day. Here are some photos from the event, where I am posing with Richie Narvaez and Lori Robbins.
New Book!
September 16th (coincidently my birthday) marked the release of New York State of Crime: Murder New York Style 6, which is the second anthology I’ve co-edited for the chapter. It contains my short story, “Orchestral Removals in the Dark.” I’m so proud of this collection of short stories, all written by ultra-talented members of the New York Chapter of Sisters in Crime. Be sure to pick up a copy wherever you purchase books online; you won’t be sorry. Along with some of the other authors, I’ll be supporting the book by signing copies at the launch on October 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Morningside Heights Library, 2900 Broadway in New York City, and again in November at the Society Library (date and time TBA in the next newsletter.)
Another Anthology!
So excited to announce that I’ll be editing a new anthology for Down & Out Books called, Better Off Dead: Crime Fiction Inspired by the Music of Elton John and Bernie Taupin. I’ve got some big names who have agreed to contribute so if you’re a big Elton John fan, look for the book in early December, 2025.
Blogging too…
My first blog with the fantastic authors at Miss Demeanors ran on October 1st. Here’s the link and a copy of the masthead. In future issues, I’ll be talking about marketing so if you’re an author looking for some tips, stay tuned.

And the editing continues…
I’m still hard at work editing my next thriller, Deadly When Disturbed, which will be released in mid-January, 2025, and Vacations Can Be Murder: A True Crime Travel Lover’s Guide to New England, which will be out in early February. Early reviews have been very positive!

My Book Recommendation for the Month:
Anyone who knows me knows I love the wit and sarcasm of British comedian David Mitchell. His autobiography, Back Story, was one of my favorites. So it was a natural that I’d love Unruly: The Ridiculous History of England’s Kings and Queens. David is not only hilarious but also a skilled historian so you’re going to laugh while you’re learning something about the British monarchy.
