It’s almost Turkey Time, and for those of you (like me) who prefer turning pages to tossing around a football, I am offering some free books to readers in conjunction with other authors who are offering some terrific freebees of their own.

What have I been up to?
It’s been a busy few weeks since I last wrote. I’ve recorded two podcast interviews for upcoming books; you can view the one on True Crime and Supernatural Travel with Dawn Barclay (TravelnSh!t, starring DCarrie), supporting my book, Vacations Can Be Murder, below. (The photo is linked to the YouTube video.) The other interview will air in January, and I have more scheduled.
Forgive my occasional forgetfulness in the video; I had over 500 bibliographical entries in the New England book (and I’ve written another one since then). Plus, I didn’t know in advance what the host planned to ask, so there were a few stumbles. The next interview, for Haunted Vermont, was much smoother!
I also attended a seminar held by the New Jersey contingent of Mystery Writers of America-New York Chapter, called The Road to Publication, featuring Verena Rose, one of my publishers from Level Best Books. There I am, in black, right in the front! Education like this is a real benefit of joining such a great organization, and even though I’ve had many books published, I always learn something when I listen to other authors and industry professionals. This was no exception.
My latest post from Miss Demeanors, this one on inexpensive book marketing tips, debuted in late October. Click on the photo below to be linked to the post.
When not writing my next books, I’ve been editing a few for various publishers, and that’s always fun. If you’re interested in having your book edited, please send me a note. Click on the photo below to be linked to the site for SuggestedDevelopment.com for prices, testimonials, etc. Fun fact: I can also create book trailers for your upcoming release.
I’ve also been hard at work, editing submissions for my upcoming anthology with Down & Out Books, titled, Better Off Dead: Crime Fiction Inspired by the Music of Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Keep an eye out for this great book, which will come out in early December 2025.

My Book Recommendation for the Month:
If you enjoy cozy mysteries but don’t like authors who go overboard on quirkiness (and I’m not naming names), you might enjoy reading Donna Andrews’ Meg Langslow mystery series. I’ve met her many times (she’s hilarious in person) and the punny titles that start later in the series, always draw me in. You can start with the first Murder with Peacocks. And if you like it, you’re in luck—there are 36 more waiting for you!
